Hello, my name is Taylor Borgen, I am a freelance music composer for film, media, games, televisions, and much more!
When I was 9 my grandparents bought me my first keyboard, within a few weeks’ time I asked my parents enrolled me in piano lessons. It did not take long – from that moment on I have become consumed with music.
The first time I played the video game, Halo I was immediately inspired by its soundtrack. It was an immensely powerful part of the game that created an atmosphere which really brought the game to life. That soundtrack changed my life, I knew then that I wanted to write music that would bring others the same emotional connection I had experienced.
I am a recent graduate of MSU Denver, obtaining my degree in piano composition with honors and Kappa Lambda from the “private music association”. Throughout college, my passion for music overtook me. I performed in as many ensembles as my schedule would allow. I learned to play in the gamelan and sang in the men’s chamber choir, pushing my musical boundaries. I performed in string ensembles, brass bands, jazz bands, and various chamber groups. It was here I discover my passion for jazz and ran with it, I performed in jazz combos and big bands under the direction of those such as Ron Miles, Don Byron and Fred Hess.
Well before I earned my music degree, I began teaching piano and guitar lessons, performing music professionally, and even wrote my first published score as a freelance composer. I love writing music in any style, whatever best fits the creative direction of a project. I worked on a number of projects ranging from Hip-hop production, film scores, chamber music – both modern and classic, electronic synthpop, jazz arranging and orchestrating, you name it! My hope is to provide the best service and creative input as I can, whether it be in composing music, sound design, arranging, live gigging or teaching music lessons.
Thanks for joining me!
